Full mouth reconstruction
Most individuals who require this treatment fall into three categories 1) Patients who have had clenching and grinding habits that have shortened the teeth and have altered the healthy position of the bite, 2) Patients who have regular or debilitating TMD symptoms because of existing bite related problems, and 3) Patients who have mal-related upper and lower teeth that contribute to deep-bites, over-bites and cross-bites. Often these patients have missing posterior teeth and undesirable spaces, rotations and crowding of teeth.
To correct bite related problems with full mouth reconstruction, Dr. Van Slate uses computer technology to find the optimal bite position. Treatment of these cases often requires a combination of onlays, veneers and crowns of each tooth. Once this is done, the patient is able to function and chew with a much more comfortable and healthy result. In most cases, this treatment also eliminates many TMD related problems.
