Meet Our Staff

All of Dr. Van Slate's staff members have also received extensive training in all office procedures, as well as the latest techniques in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. They have each participated in programs at the Las Vegas Dental Institute. Each of his staff members are CPR certified, educated in the latest OSHA requirements and are trained in the all aspects of sterilization compliance.

Sherri Roytan     (Office manager, insurance consultant)

Sherri has had over 20 years of experience in dental office management.   She has a vast knowledge of insurance procedures and often consults dental offices on insurance related issues.   She has had significant computer skills and is trained in all aspects of the dental field including managerial, insurance, financial, treatment planning as well as assisting.   She has been Dr. Van Slate's office coordinator for over twelve years.   In her spare time, Sherri is the lead singer of a country band.   Sherri is married and has twin boys.

Leta Shimala (Treatment coordinator, Registered Dental Assistant)

Leta has over 15 years of experience in the dental profession.  She attended the dental assisting program at Indiana University.  She attained her certification through the Dental Assisting National Board and is a registered dental assistant in the state of Texas. Leta has been married for 10 years and her pride and joy are her two beagles Daisy & Sarah.  Leta is very sports oriented and loves to play softball in her spare time.  

Jerri Barnett   (office coordinator)

Jerri has had over 20 years of experience in dentistry as a clinical assistant and front office coordinator.   Her understanding and knowledge of all aspects of the dental field are counted on daily to be the "glue" that keeps our practice together and running smoothly.    For over 25 years, Jerri has also been very active with the Houston Livestock Show and   Rodeo where she helps run the calf scramble committee.   She loves to spend her free time on her "farm" in North Zulch.

Charlotte Dixon (dental hygienist)

Charlotte has had over 25 years of experience in dentistry.   She graduated in 1977 from Lamar University with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene.   In her career, she has benefited by working with both periodontists and general dentists.   Her knowledge of periodontal techniques and issues are unsurpassed.   Charlotte frequently attends technical and scientific continuing education classes and enjoys learning and studying about various aspects of dentistry.   She enjoys traveling the world, attending Broadway musicals, visiting art museums, watching movies and cooking.
